About
Magdalena Lucjan was born in 1999 in Pszczyna (Poland). She graduated from the MUK University in Vienna, gaining a diploma with distinction in the class of Melba Ramos. Magdalena is currently finishing her MA degree in Vocal Performance at MDW University in Vienna under the tutelage of Michaela Schuster. Since October 2022 Magdalena was a member of the Opera Academy at the Polish National Opera in Warsaw, where she worked regularly with Olga Pasiecznik and Izabela Klosinska. Lucjan worked with many acclaimed singers and teachers such as Gabriele Lechner, Edith Wiens, Angelika Kirchschlager, Claudia Visca, Helmut Deutsch, Tobias Truniger, Maciej Pikulski. Magdalena made her Switzerland debut as Clorinda at the Ticino Musica Festival under the musical direction of Umberto Finazzi. In December 2022 Magdalena sang the roles of Sandmann/Taumann at the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn in Vienna. She was engaged in the role of Gretel in the same producton in December 2023. In June 2023 Magdalena first performed the songs from the cycle ‘Night Scenes’ by Julian Cochran at the Witold Lutoslawski Concert Studio of Polish Radio. Magdalena received the the KS Gabriele Sima Scholarship (2019), she was later supported by the Julian Cochran Foundation. Lucjan is the 1st Prize winner of Karol Szymanowski Internatonal Music Competition in Katowice (2023) and Neue Stimmen Competition in Gütersloh (2024).
In June 2024 Magdalena sang Gretel at the Grand Theatre in Łódź, and the soprano solo part in Schubert’s “Es-Dur Messe” in Wolfegg under the baton of Manfred Honeck during the International Wolfegg Concert Festival. In the summer Magdalena took part in the prestigious IMA (Internationale Meistersinger Akademie) in Neumarkt.
In the upcoming season 24/25 Magdalena will be participating in several productions at the Semperoper Dresden including; Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), A Mother (Ändere Die Welt), Nightingale/Princess (L’enfant et le sortilèges), as well as concerts.
